Leap into spring

Mary Katrantzou harp hazzard silk print dress

Gosh, there are a lot of wonderful pastel shades, metallics, tribal prints, florals, summer brights and lace arriving in the shops as we speak. We all want to have a bit of an update to our wardrobe as we leap into Spring  but most of us can’t afford, or indeed want, to dress from top-to-toe in clashing prints a la Peter Pilotto or Mary Katrantzou.

Unless you’re a real fashionista, and spend all your income on clothes whilst living on jacket potatoes and baked beans, you can make a nod to the Spring/Summer 2012 fashions by adding the new season’s colours and prints with clever accessories and simple tee shirts. An update that doesn’t break the bank but keeps you in the mix.

For us women, a necklace in pastel shades, a floral printed scarf, a metallic belt, a pair of sky-high wedges in bold brights, a clutch in a tribal print or even a just-landed nail polish colour can make all the difference. Whilst men can update with shirts in floral prints, tee-shirts in the new summer bright colours of royal blue, yellow or red, and even be a bit adventurous with a pair of coloured desert shoes.

As we put the clocks forward this weekend, a bit of new colour and on-trend print can make us feel good and help us transition into summer’s longer, warmer days. Bring them on!
